Open Communication!

One of Lodi’s favorite things to say is, “OPEN COMMUNICATION!”

He keeps telling us to always have open communication, especially with him.

Especially with every single step of every single task.

It’s another way he micromanages us.

He even has those two words exactly as his status in our instant messaging app.

But he always, always, always contradicts himself.

This is why we are always walking on eggshells.

Little things will cause him to blow a fuse.

Now, who would want to be in the receiving end of his explosions?

No one, of course.

And that prevents us from keeping an open communication line with him.

Because we don’t know what will cause him to erupt.

Because past instances have shown us he is consistently inconsistent.

Then I learned about this, shared to me by one of our offshore team members.

It’s sort of summarized because this is all I’ve been given, but read on…

In a group call, everyone was being yelled at.

Team member Robby (not his real name) couldn’t just sit there to be wrongfully accused of whatever caused Lodi to yell this time, so he spoke up and provided corrections.

Open communication, remember?

But then Robby was told he wasn’t supposed to answer back.

The tone and impression I got from Robby was the message Lodi wanted to send was this: They are NOT ALLOWED to answer back, especially to a manager.

(My thoughts: Wut!)

So what happened to “oPeN CoMMuNiCaTioN?”
